Why We Chose to Teach English in Sri Lanka
English makes a global link among people around the world. It is the major medium of international education, tertiary education, communication, business, and technology. English is an internationally recognized language and has been regarded as a second language in Sri Lanka.
Even though we learn English in schools for thirteen years in Sri Lanka, most of the students are unable to speak English. Many Sri Lankans still struggle with this language. A major reason for this problem is, we don’t have a proper background to learn English. In Sri Lanka, many jobs require qualifications in English.
- No Opportunity to Practise English
- No Time to Learn With Work
- Nowhere to Test My Knowledge in English
If we really want to master English, we have to improve our listening, reading, writing and speaking skills. In Sri Lanka, there are many ways to learn English.
Many institutes and online courses are available for students. But not everyone can afford the expensive fees of courses and classes. Some of the students don’t have enough facilities to learn English. People who do full-time jobs can’t attend the classes. So, do we have a solution for all of these issues?
